Social Media’s Tribute To Jyoti Basu

Social Networking website users paid their own kind of tribute to the famous CPM leader Jyoti Basu who passed away last week in Kolkata. Hundreds of his followers who are active on social networks such as Facebook & orkut posted links, videos and pictures related to the late politician. Mr. Jyoti Basu held the post of the Chief Minister of West Bengal uninterrupted for almost 23 years before stepping down citing health reasons.

A group called “May his soul rest in peace forever” has been created on facebook that describes the 95-year-old leader who died Sunday as “a classic personality and a true leader” of the nation. Even Orkut was buzz with activity in too many communities that mourned the death of the communist leader saying, “Our great leader and former chief minister of West Bengal is no more.”

Twitter was no less too! Even now tweets paying tribute to the late politician are showing up on the Live Twitter Search. You can visit this link to see it for yourself. There have been over 1000 tweets via which people showed their gratitude to Jyoti Basu ji. Talking about paying tributes, Facebook has a dedicated way using which one can pay tributes to folks who are no more. source: http://www.watblog.com/2010/01/21/social-medias-tribute-to-jyoti-basu/
